Age-Friendly Speaker Series Kicks Off November 16th in Hanover

HANOVER - Hanover is hosting an event on November 16th for residents and community leaders to connect and discuss important services within Hanover.  The event will be held 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the P & H Centre Lion’s Den.

This is the first of a seven part series.  Each session brings a new topic that relates to older adult issues including wellness, hearing health, estate planning and more.  The Town has been approved for funding from the provincial Senior’s Community grant program to host this event.

This project is part of Hanover’s Age Friendly Community strategy.  An age-friendly community is described as a community where policies, services and structures are designed to support and enable seniors to live in a secure environment, enjoy good health and continue to participate fully.  Age-friendly is recognized by the World Health Organization and explores the following dimensions:  community support and health services, outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, communication and information and civic participation and employment.

Hanover residents, community leaders and agency representatives are welcome to attend this free event.  If you would like to attend or for more information, please contact Hanover Parks, Recreation & Culture department, 519.364.2310 or recreation@hanover.ca.
