The sod was officially turned to mark construction of the new John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover.
Bluewater District School Board officials and area dignitaries gathered to mark the occasion. Hanover Mayor Sue Paterson says the new school will be a boon to the entire area.
“This school is going to be the anchor for the region. There will be students, parents, educators, the community, they’re building the future for us right here in this school,” says Paterson.
The new, 20 million dollar school will be built on Hanover’s east side. Construction begins next spring with the opening set for September 2018.
