Programs

Victim Assistance Program is a community-based service, which assists services and agencies in providing short-term emotional and practical assistance to victims of crime, tragic circumstances and disaster.  Volunteers are recruited from within the community who understand the particular needs of their area.  This service is being provided for our community and a satellite office is being provided for this program out of the Hanover Police Service building.

C.O.P. - Citizens on Patrol started in the year 2000 involves community volunteers who dedicate their time to assist the police service and their community by being an extra set of eyes to watch and look for criminal activity and/or circumstances where police officers need to respond.  The volunteers work together in pairs of two and using their own vehicle, drive around the community keeping observation and reporting to the communications centre incidents which require police attendance.

The Hanover Police Service supports a number of community charity events.  Charities include the Special Olympics, Cops for Cancer and Victim Services, which they fundraise for all year round.
