    Mental Health First Aid - Hanover
    One in 5 of us will experience a mental health problem before the age of 24.
    Do you know how to help?
    First Aid is the help given to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained. Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis is resolved. Mental health problems often first develop during adolescence or early adulthood, with half of all mental disorders beginning by age 14, and 75% beginning by age 24.
    Course Objectives
    Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health or substance use crisis
    Initiate conversations that encourage a person to talk about a mental health or substance use problem
    Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
    Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis situation
    Check in with one's own mental well-being and take action as needed
    This course is a hybrid course that consists of 3 modules - Module 1 is a 1.5 to 2 hour self-directed online module to be completed prior to training day. Module 2 and 3 are completed in person on training day.
    Light morning refreshments will be served but participants are asked to bring their lunch.
    Each participant will receive a reference guide and a certificate.
