The Hanover Downtown Improvement Area (D.I.A.) was established in 1977, and is an area running from: 6th Avenue along 10th Street to 14th Avenue, and one block North and South.
The D.I.A. Board of Management is an organization set up to promote and make physical improvements in the downtown core. Funding is raised by a tax levy on the assessed property value in the D.I.A.
The D.I.A. places spring banners and summer flowers in the downtown core. The D.I.A. together with the Hanover Chamber of Commerce places Canada Flags along 10th Street and 7th Avenue during the summer months, and together with the Town of Hanover decorate the downtown during the Christmas season.
