Culture is HIPP in Hanover!
As a regional centre in Grey County, Hanover prides itself on being a progressive and vibrant community. A hub for services surrounded by a rural landscape, within 90 minutes to major urban centres, Hanover is an exciting place to live and visit with its three districts, the Downtown District, Entertainment District and Business Park District. With a casino, horse raceway, microbrewery, a live music and theatre scene, as well as lots of recreational sports to keep you busy, you’ll never be bored.
Live music and events are a great contribution to our cultural fabric. Our Civic Theatre re-opened in 2022 after extensive renovations to improve the safety, accessibility and functionality. Enjoy a great line-up of tribute acts produced by Back Porch Events that includes Classic Seger, The Soul Brothers, Fleetwood Mac Mania and more. Boots & Brews Country Music Festival and the Plein Air Festival will see artists here from across Ontario every July. Music in the Square through the summer months showcase local entertainment on the second and fourth Sunday afternoons this summer in Heritage Square, so bring your lawn chair and enjoy these complimentary concerts in the heart of our downtown, Heritage Square. The Eat Well Farmers’ Market happens on Saturday mornings June through October and Downtown Hanover organizes a Harvest Market every September and a Christmas Market in December - all happening in Heritage Square. Culture Days, the last weekend in September, celebrates many of our cultural attractions through special events and exhibits.
With 11kms of community trails, access to the Saugeen River for paddling and fishing, a vibrant downtown with an array of dining and shopping options, one of Ontario’s last remaining drive-in theatres, a regional airport and aquatic centre, there’s lots to discover.
Hanover is a vibrant cultural community waiting for you to discover what it has to offer. So take our Cultural Quiz to see what type of cultural explorer you are. With your results, we’ll provide you a list of activities and groups you might be interested in, can volunteer with, and who knows who you might meet.

Celebrating our Theatres!
In 2022, Culture Days celebrated our theatres with the Grand Re-Opening of the Civic Theatre and 100th Anniversary of the Paramount Theatre. In collaboration with the Paramount Theatre and Wightman, these special features were created to share the history of both theatres and rehabilitation and user groups of the Civic Theatre.
