The Culture Days celebration is returning to Hanover from September 18 to October 4, 2026, offering residents and visitors an exciting lineup of arts, heritage, music, recreation and cultural experiences throughout the community. Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture that encourages people to take part in free, hands-on and behind-the-scenes activities highlighting the important role of culture in communities across Canada.
Throughout the festival, participants can enjoy a diverse range of events, including markets, heritage programming, public skating, art workshops, self-guided tours, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. The celebration showcases the creativity, talent and community spirit that make Hanover a vibrant and HIPP cultural destination.
Highlights of the 2026 Culture Days program include:
- Harvest Market in the Square on September 19, featuring local makers, artists, musicians and businesses in Heritage Square.
- I Remember When, on September 19 a community storytelling initiative hosted by the Hanover Heritage Committee, where residents can share memories that help preserve local history while viewing the many archives on display.
- Free Public Skates at the P & H Centre on select dates throughout the festival.
- How to Create House Histories, on September 22, presented by the Hanover Public Library, offering insights into researching the history of local homes and buildings.
- Community Art Outreach sessions hosted by the Saugeen Artists Guild, welcoming artists of all ages and skill levels.
- Eat Well Farmers’ Market, bringing together local food producers, artisans and entrepreneurs.
- Saugeen Artists Guild Fall Studio Art Tour and Autumn Leaves Studio Tour, from October 2-October 4, providing opportunities to visit artist studios and explore creative works across the region.
- The Saugeen Culture Bus Tour, October 3, showcasing cultural attractions and events throughout the region. Ticketed event.
- The Artie Music Film Festival, October 3 featuring live music and film programming for the whole family. Ticketed event.
- Youth Karaoke, October 3, at the Bodega Café & Pantry at Elephant Thoughts.
- Self-guided experiences including the Virtual Municipal Facilities Tour, Hanover Scavenger Hunt and Downtown Public Art & Street Banner Tour.
Admission to events is offered free of charge, unless otherwise noted, providing accessible opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with arts, culture, recreation and heritage throughout the community.
