Hanover Announces New Disc Golf Course

Public Notice

Hanover , ON β€“ The Town of Hanover is pleased to announce the installation of a new disc golf course, located in Hanover Park at 780 - 7th Ave. Disc golf is a popular sport that has been on the rise in recent years. The addition of this course is sure to excite both seasoned players and those looking to try a new fun outdoor activity.

Disc golf is similar to traditional golf in that players aim to get their disc into a target with as few throws as possible. However, instead of using a ball and clubs, disc golf uses specially designed Frisbee-like discs.

The course will be integrated into the beautiful surroundings of the park and will feature 9 holes, with varying levels of difficulty to test the skills of both beginners and experienced players.

The installation of this course is part of the Town's ongoing efforts to provide fun and engaging recreational activities for all ages. Mayor Sue Paterson expressed her support for the project commenting, "We are thrilled to be adding this new amenity to our community. Disc golf is a fun and affordable outdoor activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. We believe this course will become a popular destination for both residents and visitors alike."

Thanks to the efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers and local sponsors, the course is free to use and open to the public, with no reservations required. Hanover Public Library is offering discs for borrow with a library card to help make the sport accessible to everyone. This will allow individuals with a library card to try the sport without having to purchase any equipment.

To celebrate the grand opening of the course, the Hanover Disc Golf Committee is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday July 11 at 6 pm. The event will feature refreshments, and learn to play opportunities for those who want to give the sport a try.
