Hanover Music in the Square Local Concert Series Moves to Saturdays and Kicks-Off This Week with a Newcomer Event!
HANOVER, ON – Hanover’s successful Music in the Square, free local concert series, is returning for its fourth consecutive year and moves to Saturdays, in coordination with the Eat Well Farmers’ Market, at Heritage Square, in the heart of downtown Hanover.
To help celebrate and kick-off this summer’s Music in the Square concert series, a Newcomer Event is planned for Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 10am-1:30pm. Mayor Paterson will be in attendance to welcome new residents. Welcome packages will be distributed and other newcomer resources will be available, including the Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership and YMCA Settlement Services being on site. Local entertainers being featured include a performance by Dickie Bird, one of Canada's most dynamic and entertaining children's performers, at 10am and 11am, with a fabulous show introducing plenty of interactive songs, magic tricks, participatory fun, cool gadgets like the Bubble Machine, and the everyone-joins-in jugband. Petunia the Clown will also be on site twisting balloons from 10am-12pm and the Hanover Public Library tent is a destination for family fun that includes a sensory station, a book nook and crafts. The Red Rascals will hit the bandshell stage at 12pm, where Maryanne and Carl Holst will provide good times and adventures through their style of classic country music to wrap up the day.
Presented by Hanover’s Cultural Roundtable and Downtown Hanover, Music in the Square is a series of live, local and free performances on the second and fourth Saturday of June, July and August, from 11am-1pm. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, have a picnic in the park, and enjoy live music while also supporting Hanover’s farmers’ market and vibrant downtown stores and restaurants, before heading to the Hanover Raceway for an action-packed afternoon of harness racing.
