It is with sadness that the Mayor, Council and staff of the Town of Hanover acknowledge the loss of our Councillor, Harold Fleet. Harold proudly served the community he called home throughout his entire life.. He was serving his second term as a council member, having first been elected in 2018. Harold served as the Council representative on the Planning Advisory Committee, the Age-Friendly Advisory Committee and the Downtown Improvement Area Board. Harold cared deeply about Hanover and demonstrated his commitment to our community through his volunteer service prior to becoming a Council member. His contributions included serving on the 2004 Centennial committee, P & H Centre building committee, as well as being a board member with Community Living.
Known for his outgoing nature and friendly personality, Harold touched the lives of countless residents. Whether through his volunteer work, community involvement or service on Council, he worked to make Hanover a better place. His dedication, kindness and commitment to public service will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts are with Harold’s family at this difficult time.
In honour of Councillor Fleet, the flag at the Civic Centre and P & H Centre shall be lowered to half-mast.
