The Town of Hanover is marking National Volunteer Week, observed from April 19 to 25, 2026, by celebrating and thanking the many volunteers whose time, skills and dedication support community programs, services and events throughout the year.
This year’s theme, Ignite Volunteerism, highlights the power of individuals to spark positive change and strengthen community well-being. Volunteers help build connections, support local initiatives and enhance quality of life in Hanover, contributing to a vibrant, inclusive and resilient community.
To recognize these contributions, the Town of Hanover hosted a Volunteer Appreciation event on Friday, April 17, at The Bodega Cafe & Pantry, a youth social enterprise by Elephant Thoughts in Hanover. The event brought together approximately 50 volunteers and community partners representing more than 20 local organizations to celebrate the impact of volunteer service across the community.
Eight organizations were invited to share information about their work, and the role volunteers play in advancing their missions, highlighting the diverse ways volunteers support recreational, social, cultural and community services in Hanover and the surrounding area.
Volunteers play a vital role in strengthening social connections, supporting essential services and creating opportunities for residents of all ages. Through their time and dedication, volunteers help deliver programs, events and services that contribute to a healthy, connected and engaged community, while responding to local needs in meaningful ways.
The Town of Hanover extends its sincere appreciation to the many community organizations and volunteers whose commitment and generosity make a lasting difference. Their contributions help ensure Hanover remains a welcoming place to live, work and volunteer, and their impact is felt across the community throughout the year.
